Information for families
You’ll hear it often here: you are your child’s first teacher, and we’re here to support you throughout the preschool years. At the end of the day, the Happy Day families are what make our school thrive. We count ourselves fortunate to have the opportunity to care for your children.

Navigating kindergarten
That cliché about early childhood — long days, short years — feels especially true when our Happy Day friends approach kindergarten. Our teachers and staff are happy to offer guidance and insights as you weigh your options for their next school chapter. Happy Day friends have enrolled at many area public schools, including various schools in the Boston Public Schools, and numerous independent schools in greater Boston. We have connections with Happy Day alumni parents who can provide information about their experiences in those schools as well.

Art Month
Art Month is a true highlight of the Happy Day school year. Every March, each classroom takes on several individual and group art projects — including a self-portrait! — to engage with the medium through sculpture, painting and more. All art, all month long can get messy, but we wouldn’t have it any other way.
Our Pre-K and Pre-K/K children visit the Museum of Fine Arts to see the famous paintings they learned about in the classroom and participate in an arts-based activity. The month culminates in a special Gallery Night, where children proudly display their work for their families. The event also serves as a fundraiser for local arts nonprofits, including Artists for Humanity, a Boston organization that brings arts and entrepreneurial experiences to teens through opportunities to provide creative services to the city’s business community.

Q&A with Dr. Paula
Happy Day is fortunate to count consultation child psychiatrist Dr. Paula Rauch, MD, as an alumni parent, and even more fortunate that Dr. Paula holds a dedicated session every January to discuss child development and answer parents’ questions about how to navigate the early childhood years. Dr. Paula founded Massachusetts General Hospital’s Marjorie E. Korff PACT (Parenting At a Challenging Time) Program in 1997 and served as the program’s director until her retirement in 2023.

Our calendar
Field trips, Art Night, the Halloween parade, graduation and more — we have all the dates parents need to remember in our Happy Day event calendar.
"We've been fortunate to send our sons to Children's Happy Day, and we can't say enough good things about the school. The teachers and staff are so caring and thoughtful. They've put together a program that teaches confidence, independence, kindness and resilience in an age-appropriate manner. They put the kids' safety and needs first in everything that they do — every child is truly known and loved. The intentionality and warmth you feel in every interaction makes Children's Happy Day a true gem."
